Dress Code

Caroline Dormon Junior High Dress Code

Uniform:

  • Pants, shorts, etc.
    • Girls: Navy or khaki pants, capri pants, shorts, skirts, skorts, dresses, or jumpers (no cargo pants/no cargo shorts or sweatpants). It is recommended by CDJH that our Pre-K - 3rd grade Grizzlies, especially, wear shorts underneath their skirts, dresses, or jumpers. 
    • Boys: Navy or khaki pants or shorts (no cargo pants/no cargo shorts or sweatpants). 
    • Length:  skirts, skorts, jumpers, and shorts must be no shorter than four inches above the knee as measured from the back crease of the knee.  The knee-length requirement has been waived for all students in grades Pre-K - 3.  The length still must be acceptable, however. 
  • Shirts
    • Solid white, black, gray, or hunter green knit shirts with collar or cotton/cotton blend button front shirts with long or short sleeves-school logo(s) are optional. Shirts must be long enough to tuck in and remain tucked in at all times. 
    • Only solid white, black, or gray undershirts or camisoles shall be worn under the school uniform shirt.  
    • In the 24-25 school year, students may wear ANY past CDJH t-shirt any day of the week. Shirts must be official CDJH shirts, either purchased from CDJH, P.T.O, or part of a club/athletic CDJH program. 
  • Shoes
    • Shoes must be worn at all times.  
    • No rubber or foam swim footwear, flip-flops, beach or pool sandals, house shoes, or crocs will be allowed.
    • For PE, footwear must have a rubber bottom, provide ankle support, cover the whole back/front of the foot and have an adjustable strap, laces or Velcro. 
  • Belts
    • Belts are optional for all grade levels.
    • No part of the belt may be left hanging.
    • Belts must be threaded through the loops.
  • Jackets
    • Students may wear any jacket when weather dictates except for trench coats, dusters, knee length starter jackets or pullover outerwear of any kind, sweatshirts included.
    • Sweatshirts and hoodies sold by Caroline Dormon and Grizzly P.T.O. are permitted.  
  • Jeans
    • Students may wear jeans or athletic bottoms (loose athletic pants or shorts of appropriate length ((no shorter than four inches above the knee as measured from the back crease of the knee) - no leggings) on Fridays for $1.00.
    • Jeans must not be frayed, torn, or distressed. 
    • Jean shorts of appropriate length (no shorter than four inches above the knee as measured from the back crease of the knee) will be acceptable. 
  • Hats and Hoods
    • Hats and hoods are prohibited in the building. 
  • Hair
    • Students’ hair must be groomed in such a manner that it will not draw undue attention.

  • Students will receive a Dress Code Violation and may be asked to call home for a change of clothing.  Repeated dress code violations will result in a minor referral. 
  • The above dress code is subject to change with the adoption of new or amended policies passed by the Rapides Parish School Board. 
  • On Fridays, students may wear jeans (or jean shorts of an appropriate length) or athletic bottoms (shorts, sweatpants, loose athletic pants - NO LEGGINGS) for $1.00.
